What is Youthline

Youthline is a collection of organisations that work together to make sure young people are able to get the best support, when they need it. We work with young people, their familes and those supporting young people. Our organisations are made up of volunteer and paid staff members - and we have centres based across the country.

We were proudly established in 1970 by a group of people who realised that there were not a lot of options for young people needing to access help and development services.

We understand that sometimes it can be difficult asking for support. It can also be difficult working out who to contact for what. To make sure it's as easy as possible to use our services, and other services who work with young people, we make sure that we have good relationships across the country with other providers so that we can point you in the direction of local services.

Youthline Otago is a volunteer-led support and community service for people of all ages and concerns, focused on the needs of youth. We provide helpline support, face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy, community education, youth group facilitation, and foundational training in the human services.

In collaboration with other Youthlines around the country, our helpline is available 24/7. You don't need to be in crisis to ring (0800 376633), text free (234), or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
